UNDANGAN

INVITATION

The People’s Water Forum, Indonesian Committee invite you to celebrate the 2024 World Water Day through the following online events on 21-22 March 2024 (for the Zoom registration link, please see at the bottom of this invitation):

MENDING WATER UNIVERSE THROUGH SPACES OF LIFE

After the 25-year private water concession contract in Jakarta was ended in 2023, there have been ambiguous regulatory systems in place, in an absence of political commitments to reform and strengthen the public service provision. In the meantime, the commercialization approach in the Jakarta model has also been implanted in the whole archipelago. In the events to celebrate the 2024 World Water Day, we seek to define some ‘gray spaces’ in which possible changes could emerge. Gray spaces could be imagined as spaces that are not yet ‘claimed’ by big interest groups (i.e. those securing profits and investments), or ‘claimed’ spaces but with some porosities or holes or cracks or ‘you-name-it’ to pursue civil society movements and social innovations (not only innovations of technologies or ways of doing, but also in governance or democracy) to meet the human right to water and social justice.
